Very Merry Theatre's theme song and lyrics
Making Merry
Lyrics by Donald Wright and Ashley O'Brien
We dipped into the Bard’s comedies
Then dove tragically into his tragedies
With Lear we headed out west
The tempest became a great circus
Romeo and Juliet grooved in the 60s
Midsummer was updated to the 40s
We flew away to Neverland
And Buster Bear made new friends
We opened Dicken’s curiosity shop
And created some great expectations
Pinocchio and Cyrano showed their noses
While Rat, Mole and Toad drifted in their boats-es
Alice landed twice in Wonderland
And we found the key to the secret garden
With penned originals like Superheroes
Searched for Mother Goose and hobbit toes-es
We rode out west on the Frontier Express
Nancy Wright collaborated with great success
Pea Soup Poisonings and Circus Train Robbery
Plus Long John Silver and ol’ Black Beauty
The monster from Frankenstein found a friend
King Arthur and Guinevere reigned again
Monarchs flew away to the south
And Ozma returned to claim her crown
There was freckled Anne away up north
And Robin and Marianne fought with swords
When the day came to celebrate twenty
Ashley and Don composed this medley

MAKING MERRY
Very merry, very merry, 2xs
If all whole wide world were one big stage
And the actors were kids of every age
Playing many parts, singing many songs
Dancing to the beat, enthralling the throngs
[refrain] Then we’d (and we’ll be) be merry, very merry
Merry, very merry
Be it scary, hairy, parry or a fairy!
We’ll be merry, very merry
Paint your face, costume up, fix your hair
Find your props, places all, the lights are on!
Show your craft, suit the action to the word,
With your traveling troupe circle ‘round the world
[refrain]
And when the play is done do you take your bow
Jump with joy, share a hug and greet the crowd
Make the whole wide world just one big stage
Let the actors be kids of every age
[refrain]
We’ll be merry, whoo! very merry [repeat]
